Hundreds of South Africans gathered at OR Tambo International Airport to welcome Bafana Bafana home after the team's historic FIFA World Cup campaign.
Fans of all ages waved flags, blew vuvuzelas and cheered as the national team returned after becoming the first South African men's side to reach the knockout stage of a FIFA World Cup.
Many supporters arrived before sunrise, with government leaders and football officials also on hand to celebrate the team's achievement.

South African football fans have been ranked among the world's most colourful supporter cultures in a new international study conducted during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The World Cup Reputation Index surveyed more than 5 000 people across the tournament's 16 host cities in the United States and ranked South Africa fifth out of 45 non host supporter cultures.
Local fans were recognised for their rhythm, colour and welcoming atmosphere.
The study also found that nearly three quarters of those surveyed said visiting supporters influence how they view a country, with positive fan experiences making many more likely to visit that nation.
