SA Hall of fame celebrates Icons at soccer legends induction

Seven of South Africa’s most celebrated football legends were honoured during the South African Hall of Fame’s second Soccer Legends Induction ceremony, which was held at the Silverstar Casino in Krugersdorp.
The evening brought together sports administrators, former players, fans and dignitaries to pay tribute to icons whose contributions have shaped the country’s football landscape and inspired generations of supporters.
The ceremony recognised the lasting impact these icons have had on South African sport and society.
Among those inducted were former Bafana Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena, Banyana Banyana defender Janine van Wyk, World Cup hero Mark fish, prolific striker Mark Williams and midfield maestro Doctor Khumalo.
The Chairman of the South African Hall of Fame, Johnny Burger, says the stories of the icons are more than just sporting triumphs, but symbols of perseverance, unity and national pride.

Tourism recovery accelerates as Western Cape sees record visitor numbers

The tourism industry in the Western Cape has recorded a strong performance, with visitor numbers now exceeding pre-pandemic levels.
The Airports Company South Africa announced that a million passengers had passed through the Cape Town International Airport by October last year,
well ahead of the traditional festive rush.
The milestone indicated a strong start to the peak travel season.
As the province’s top destination, the City of Cape Town recorded more than 2.4 million overnight visitors last year, with the Tourism industry generating over R24.5 billion in economic activity, supporting over 106 000 jobs.
Official figures for the 2025 festive season will be collated towards the end of January for all sectors in the Tourism Industry.

SA Harvest raises R1.4 million for eastern Cape food relief

Non-profit organisation SA Harvest has raised around R1.4 million through its 2025 Buckets of Nutrition campaign to support food relief efforts for disadvantaged families in Nelson Mandela Bay and surrounding Eastern Cape communities.
SA Harvest’s Lwazi Nongauza says the initiative focuses on addressing increased hunger during the December school holidays.
The organisation has reached around 1 400 families,
through its community partners, with further food distributions planned into early 2026.
