Imbumba Foundation has honoured four brave 2025 Trek4Mandela participants and Mount Kilimanjaro summiteers at the Nelson Mandela Foundation last month.
Trek4Mandela is an annual expedition that falls under the NPO and was founded by innovative social entrepreneur Richard Mabaso in 2010, with the aim of honouring Nelson Mandela's legacy and inspire Africans and people worldwide.
One of the climbers, Ntando Ngubane, was motivated to join the expedition after a near-death experience in 2021 and is now passionate about the Caring4Girls Programme, supporting young girls' education and sanitary needs through Trek4Mandela's partnership.
The Caring4Girls Programme addresses the harsh reality that many South African girls miss school due to lack of access to sanitary products and reproductive health education.

The Cansa Shavathon, a community-driven event, was held at Ruimsig Shopping Centre last month, uniting locals in the fight against cancer.
The event saw adults and children bravely colour or shave their hair, raising funds for Cansa.
The event offered free health screenings from Xchange Health and raised awareness for childhood cancer through the Choc Foundation.
Proceeds from the event will support Cansa's mission to improve cancer care and support those affected by the disease.

The Honeydew CPF hosted an appreciation lunch last week, bringing together families, police, victim support teams, and CPF patrollers for a relaxed afternoon before the festive season.
The event celebrated the dedication of volunteers who keep the community safe, honouring patrollers and victim support members who collectively completed 655 patrol hours.
Michael Steyn, Honeydew CPF public relations officer, described the afternoon as wonderful, saying it was a time for connecting and enjoying each other's company without the usual need to stay alert.
