University of Johannesburg Chancellor Phumzile Mlambo Ngcuka has received an honorary doctorate from the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom for her global leadership in advancing gender equality, sustainable development and social justice.
The former Deputy President and former head of UN Women was recognised for decades of public service and her work to expand opportunities for women around the world.

The quarterly initiative allows families to choose the items they need at no cost, creating a dignified shopping experience instead of a traditional donation drive.
Hosted in Strandfontein, the event also provided warm meals, with support from businesses, volunteers and community partners helping almost every donated item find a new home.
The 9Miles Project says the initiative forms part of its ongoing work to support vulnerable families in coastal communities through food relief, education and skills development.
