A Lappet-faced vulture chick has hatched at Vulpro’s breeding facility in the Eastern Cape, marking the first successful birth in four years.
The chick, born on Heritage Day, is the first of its kind bred specifically for conservation and is expected to play a vital role in boosting numbers of the critically endangered species.
Vulpro currently has three breeding pairs and aims to grow that number to at least ten to strengthen recovery efforts.
