Ekurhuleni has emerged victorious at the 2025 OR Tambo Soncini Social Cohesion Games, hosted by the City of Johannesburg this month.
The municipality's team clinched top honours with 44 points, narrowly beating defending champions Johannesburg, which scored 43 points.
The annual tournament brought together young athletes from five Gauteng municipalities, competing in basketball, netball, volleyball, rugby, and chess.
Community Development Member of the Mayoral Committee Tebogo Nkokou congratulated the winners and participants, honouring the legacy of OR Tambo.

Transport minister Barbara Creecy has launched PRASA’s renewable energy initiative and celebrated the rollout of the 300th locally built train in Isipingo, KwaZulu-Natal.
Creecy told Newzroom Afrika that the trains, made from South African steel, mark progress in advanced manufacturing and job creation.
