e-Mobility Energy Drive launched

The e-Mobility Energy Drive has been launched to test electric vehicles for long-distance travel in South Africa.
The Energy Drive which started over the weekend will conclude at the Uyilo e-Mobility Innovation Summit, currently taking place from 28 to 30 October 2025 in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.
The summit celebrates Transport Month and showcases SA's sustainable mobility progress.
The initiative is a collaboration between government and private sector partners, aiming to promote clean mobility and a greener transport sector.
Hydrogen and Energy Acting Chief Director, Mandy Mlilo says the Energy Drive promotes EV reliability, informs policy and infrastructure planning, and fosters collaboration for a greener transport sector in SA.

Minister Creecy flags off PRASA's green transport push

Transport minister Barbara Creecy has launched PRASA’s renewable energy initiative and celebrated the rollout of the 300th locally built train in Isipingo, KwaZulu-Natal.
Creecy told Newzroom Afrika that the trains, made from South African steel, mark progress in advanced manufacturing and job creation.
