Attendees were also introduced to Cisco Networking Academy tools and practical simulations used in real-world ICT environments.
Organisers say the initiative aims to close the gender gap in the tech sector by giving young women access to skills, confidence and industry experience.

South African DJ Black Coffee has made history after selling out London’s 20,000-capacity O2 Arena, becoming the first DJ from Africa to achieve the milestone.
The performance featured a symphonic-inspired set blending electronic music with live orchestral elements, alongside special guest appearances including Alicia Keys, as well as several South African artists.
The show adds to Black Coffee’s growing international success, with performances at major global venues and a Grammy Award win in 2022 for Best Dance/Electronic Album.

South African innovation brings portable desks to hospital schools for sick learners

Hospitalised children in Gauteng will now be able to continue learning more comfortably, thanks to a portable desk-and-chair system being rolled out across eight public hospital schools.
The initiative, supported by Steve Biko Academic Hospital and provincial education partners, provides trolley-style school bags that convert into desks, chairs and include solar lighting for learners receiving long-term medical care.
The idea was developed by South African innovator Talita Boodhram, whose prototype has grown into a global social innovation aimed at improving education access in under-resourced environments.
