A cafe owner in British Columbia, Ted Martindale of Granville's Coffee, celebrated his 80th birthday by creating a colossal 17-by-17-foot carrot cake. He partnered with several local bakeries to assemble the cake, which used more than 1,760 pounds of carrots, 700 pounds of butter, thousands of eggs, and nearly 2,000 pounds of icing.Martindale said it took over a month to bake the 430 individual cakes that made up the final product.
