The Bryanston Primary School grounds came alive this past week for the school’s annual Soapbox Derby. With this year’s theme, A Splash of Colour, every grade embraced creativity, dressing in their assigned colours and adding playful accessories. The highlight was the fast-paced soapbox cart races made by the students. Beyond the races, the day carried a strong fundraising purpose. Classes worked hard to gather money donations, with medals awarded to those who completed the most laps and raised the highest funds.

The phrase “men don’t cry” has long pressured boys to suppress their emotions, but in communities like Diepsloot, that silence can be harmful. The Diepsloot Men’s Forum (DMF), founded by Bishop Dube, is working to change this narrative by providing boys and men with care, guidance, and a safe space to be heard. Born from Dube’s own experience of emotional abuse in his 25-year marriage, the forum addresses the pain many men endure in silence. Established in 2013 and officially registered in 2016, DMF offers a platform for men and boys to openly discuss social challenges and emotional struggles, creating community support where it is most needed.

South African Minister of Tourism Patricia de Lille has hailed the inaugural LIV Golf tournament at Steyn City, Johannesburg, as a huge success, projecting an economic impact of 700–800 million rand. After a record-breaking 10.48 million international arrivals in 2025—a 17.6% increase—the event highlights South Africa as a top global destination. De Lille said hosting LIV Golf demonstrates the country’s ability to attract and deliver major international events.
