The phrase “men don’t cry” has long pressured boys to suppress their emotions, but in communities like Diepsloot, that silence can be harmful. The Diepsloot Men’s Forum (DMF), founded by Bishop Dube, is working to change this narrative by providing boys and men with care, guidance, and a safe space to be heard. Born from Dube’s own experience of emotional abuse in his 25-year marriage, the forum addresses the pain many men endure in silence. Established in 2013 and officially registered in 2016, DMF offers a platform for men and boys to openly discuss social challenges and emotional struggles, creating community support where it is most needed.

Westville Girls High and the community have rallied together to help rebuild the life of the schools traffic controller who lost everything in the KwaZulu Natal floods. Trevor, the cheerful face who greets students each morning at Westville Girls' High School with smiles and high-fives, lost his home and belongings in recent floods. Now sleeping on a broken mattress in a new rental, he has almost nothing to furnish his space. In response, the school has launched a community collection drive to help him rebuild, offering their premises as a storage and sorting point to support the effort.
