Global landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Sagrada Família in Barcelona, switched off their lights for an hour at 20:30 local time yesterdaynto mark Earth Hour. Organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature, the annual event encourages people, businesses, and cities worldwide to turn off non-essential lights for 60 minutes as a symbolic gesture to raise awareness about climate change and biodiversity loss. Beyond turning off lights, the initiative also promotes “giving an hour for Earth” by doing positive actions for the environment, such as nature-friendly activities or practicing sustainability.
