South African students Ruan Smith and Rudi Scholtz from Nelson Mandela University have won the world's leading international architecture student competition in Belgrade, Serbia.
The pair beat 34 finalist teams from around the world with their sustainable redesign of Belgrade's Sava River waterfront.
Their project focused on improving accessibility, public spaces and environmental sustainability.
The victory adds to South Africa's strong record in international architecture competitions.

The technology keeps donor livers functioning outside the body, giving doctors more time to assess and preserve organs before surgery.
This could allow more donated livers to be used for transplants and improve outcomes for patients waiting for a lifesaving operation.
