Bottle top drive turns waste into wheelchairs for those in need
Story 1
Learners at Rynfield Primary School in Benoni have helped provide mobility for people in need by collecting nearly five tonnes of plastic bottle caps and lids.
The initiative saw the school partner with recycling organisations to exchange the collected caps for wheelchairs, resulting in a total of 10 wheelchairs being donated to local care organisations and support centres.
School officials say the project encourages environmental responsibility while also supporting vulnerable community members who rely on mobility assistance.

Blanket drive keeps Eastern Cape pensioners warm this winter
Story 2
Elderly residents in rural villages around Tsolo in the Eastern Cape have received warm blankets through a joint effort by government and non governmental organisations as freezing winter temperatures continue.
The initiative supported pensioners who face difficult living conditions and limited access to heating, with many relying on social grants to get by.
Organisers say the blanket distribution will help reduce the health risks associated with the cold while providing comfort to older people in remote communities.
