Johannesburg matriculant Mollwane “Mo” Madiba got the surprise of a lifetime when Grammy-winning star Tyla showed up at his matric dance. After Mo posted a TikTok in February asking Tyla to be his date, rallying nationwide support. Though Tyla initially said she couldn’t attend, she made a surprise appearance at the event, held at St Stithians College in Sandton. Her new song played before she walked in, turning Mo’s bold dream into a magical, unforgettable reality.

Hundreds of fitness lovers participated in the Bryanston Parkrun despite the chilly winter morning on June 28. Braving the cold in beanies, gloves, and colourful sportswear, runners, walkers, families, and even dogs completed the scenic 5km trail. The event brought together people of all ages, proving that cold weather is no barrier to an active lifestyle. The Bryanston Parkrun continues to foster community spirit and healthy living, drawing regular crowds regardless of the season.

The KwaMashu community and surrounding areas will benefit from a new project providing free, uncapped internet to schools and communities. IHS South Africa, part of IHS Towers—one of the country’s largest independent communications infrastructure providers—has partnered with non-profit organisation Project Isizwe to drive the initiative. The project aims to bridge the digital divide by improving connectivity and access to online resources, supporting education, community development, and digital inclusion in underserved areas through reliable and cost-free internet access.
