South Africa Launches Blind Football Workshop

Johannesburg has hosted South Africa’s first accredited blind football workshop, training participants to coach, manage, and develop blind football programmes.
Hosted by Corinthians Africa in partnership with CATHSSETA, the workshop has been running since 25 July and will conclude on 1 August, combining theory and practical training.
Delegates from across South Africa are learning project planning, budgeting, and the rules of blind football to help grow the sport in local communities.
The programme also introduced the IBSA Blind Football Coaching Manual in Braille to support future coaches and players.

Alexandra Community Tackles Hunger With Soup

Members of the Ageing With Wisdom Elderly Forum in Alexandra have launched the Tswelopele Soup Kitchen to provide meals for households facing food insecurity.
The kitchen began serving soup and bread on 7 July and plans to operate three times a week, depending on available support.
The initiative aims to assist elderly residents, children, and families affected by unemployment and limited income.
Community members are being encouraged to support the project through food or financial donations to help sustain the service.

Student Creates Book Club For Learners

Grade 11 learner Kamuso Magidigidi has founded a book club at Isilimela Comprehensive School in Cape Town to encourage reading and discussion among learners.
The club meets weekly, with members reading together, tracking progress, debating books, and connecting stories to real-life issues.
Since launching, the club has created a space for learners to share ideas and build a reading culture at school.
Kamuso is seeking more books and support to expand the initiative and give more learners access to reading materials.
