The Westbury Clinic will officially open its long-awaited 24-hour accident and emergency unit on February 1, improving access to urgent healthcare for surrounding communities.
The unit will serve residents of Westbury, Sophiatown, and Claremont, providing round-the-clock care for accidents, injuries, and other medical emergencies.
With this new facility, residents can receive timely care close to home, reducing the need to travel to larger hospitals.
The unit is also expected to ease pressure on neighbouring health centres and hospitals, improving healthcare for the whole community.

Specialists from the University of Johannesburg’s Advanced Rescue Simulation Centre joined Rescue South Africa in Mozambique to help people trapped by devastating floods.
Working under South African coordination with Rescue SA and the National Disaster Management Centre, the team carried out swift water and aviation rescue operations in extremely challenging conditions.
South African Air Force crews evacuated 450 civilians from flood stricken areas and transported them to safety.
UJ hosted the specialists before deployment and praised their contribution to saving lives and assisting displaced families.

A back-to-school programme led by Gauteng businessman Andrew Barnard has brought hope and dignity to learners in Soul City and Luipaardvlei, Mogale City.
The initiative provided 100 school shoes for boys and girls, sanitary pads for girls, and book covering services to help learners start the academic year prepared and confident.
Barnard said the initiative is about community involvement and giving back, building on previous efforts that included distributing food parcels.
Parents collected the shoes and sanitary pads, while learners had their books covered, showing how collaboration and compassion can uplift communities.
