Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, Sindisiwe Chikunga and Special Olympics South Africa, officially launched the Catching the Wind documentary in Rosebank, in Johannesburg.
The launch forms part of the department's ongoing commitment to advance the rights, inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities, while creating equal opportunities through sport.
The documentary follows the journeys of Special Olympics South Africa athletes Kamogelo Moncho and Lumka Gogela, highlighting their resilience, determination and perseverance as athletes with intellectual disabilities.

The Minister says government remains committed to creating an inclusive sporting environment where every athlete can participate, compete and excel.

Higher Education, Science and Innovation Minister Blade Nzimande says the South African Women in Science Awards play an important role in inspiring women and encouraging young girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The Minister says the awards form part of a broader transformation programme, supported through scholarships, postgraduate funding and assistance for emerging researchers.
Nzimande says women have enormous potential.

South African surgeon Kirthi Ramdhani has become the first doctor in Africa to qualify in both paediatric surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery.
The 38-year-old from Tongaat in KwaZulu-Natal achieved the milestone, after completing her second specialist qualification.

Ramdhani says the combined expertise will help improve treatment for children with complex congenital conditions, burns and traumatic injuries.
The achievement marks a significant milestone for specialised healthcare on the continent.
