Unisa celebrates African Music and heritage

The University of South Africa’s Music Directorate hosted the second annual African Music Festival and Symposium, as well as workshops focused on indigenous sound practices to keep African heritage at the forefront of musical education.
The festival brought together traditional African sounds and contemporary musical expression, giving Unisa staff, students and members of the public an opportunity to experience the continent’s rich and diverse musical heritage.
The festival focused on preserving and showcasing traditional African sounds, highlighting instruments such as the mumba, and various traditional drums.

Golden Gate Highlands National Park launches new Zipline Adventure

The South African National Parks has officially launched the new Golden Gate Zipline adventure at the Golden Gate Highlands National Park in the Free State.
The course features 7 cables and platforms, with the longest cable stretching up to 650 meters.
Golden Gate Highlands park manager Paddy Gordon says the new attraction is part of efforts to ensure that national parks offer experiences that appeal to a broader range of visitors and to attract people who may never have considered visiting the park.
Kaula Nyilenda-Mphaphuli is the Managing Executive for Tourism Development and Marketing at the South African National Parks.

Limpopo's Matric achievers recognised for excellence

The Adopt-a-School Foundation is supporting education excellence in Limpopo by recognising outstanding learners and teachers at the Vhembe East District Class of 2025 Matric Awards and the 2026 National Teaching Awards Provincial Ceremony.
The Foundation supported the district’s Top 25 learners with laptops and other resources,
while four top-performing learners from Quintiles 1 to 4 were awarded Standard Bank vouchers valued at R5,000.
The Foundation recognised outstanding educators through the National Best Teacher and Kader Asmal Lifetime Achievement awards, with winners receiving R15,000 vouchers, laptops and other educational materials.
The contribution is aimed at ensuring that academic achievement is supported with practical resources that can assist learners as they progress to further education and future opportunities.
