The Gauteng Department of Education says Parents have until midnight to apply online for the 2026 Gauteng school placements for Grade 1 and 8 learners.

The department says all public ordinary schools, district offices and 81 decentralised walk-in centres will remain open to assist parents with applications until the system closes.

Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane says Parents will have until the 9th of September to finalise all application documentation.
The placement process will begin on the 16th of October with offers sent via SMS.
