World class sprint clash lights up Pretoria
Story 1
Pretoria saw a major boost for local athletics as the inaugural Simbine Classic brought top international sprinters to Pilditch Stadium.
The meet featured a rare 100 metres showdown between Olympic and world championship medallists, with South Africa’s Akani Simbine competing against global stars on home soil.
Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme took the win in the final, while Simbine impressed with a sub 10 second run earlier in the event.
Organisers say the meet is aimed at growing into a regular international fixture while giving South African athletes the chance to compete at elite level locally.
