Optometrists donate R11 000 to support disabled athletes

Spec-Savers Medicross Krugersdorp has donated R11 000 to the West Rand School to support learners with physical disabilities competing at the National Track and Field Championships.
The funds came from an Eye Care Awareness Fundraiser in October, with money raised through eye tests doubled by Spec-Savers South Africa.
The branch has supported the school for the past 10 years, providing free eye tests for learners. The donation will go directly to assisting athletes with training and competition.

Scarlett Le Roux shines with two medals at Belarus Swimming Cup

Teen swimmer Scarlett Le Roux won silver in the 800m freestyle and bronze in the 400m freestyle at the Belarus Swimming Cup.
The 17-year-old set personal bests in both races and helped South Africa secure six medals in total.
The Minsk event drew elite swimmers from across the world. Le Roux says she plans to focus on refining her technique and strengthening women’s swimming in South Africa

FA confirms Euro 2028 tickets will stay affordable

The Football Association says tickets for UEFA Euro 2028 will not use dynamic pricing.
FA chief executive Mark Bullingham confirmed that around half of all tickets will be sold in lower cost bands to make the games more affordable for fans.
The FA says making the tournament accessible to a significant number of people remains a key priority and that revenue generation must be balanced with fairness for supporters.
Organisers are also considering subsidising travel for ticket holders and finalising full pricing details closer to the tournament.
