Doctors, NGO deliver desks to hospitals
Story 2
A doctor and non-profit organisation have supplied 110 portable MiDesks to paediatric wards in Gauteng hospitals to help children continue learning during long hospital stays.
The project began after a paediatric specialist saw a child doing homework while waiting at a rural clinic and contacted MiDesk Global to develop a solution.
The desks, which convert from a trolley into a study station, have been distributed to hospitals including Steve Biko Academic, Chris Hani Baragwanath and Charlotte Maxeke.
Hospital staff say the desks allow teachers to continue lessons at the bedside while children receive treatment.
