The Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit has received official approval to amend its design, opening the door for the potential return of F1 racing to the country.

The move marks a major step toward re-establishing South Africa as a global motorsport destination and reviving its historical link to the premier class of racing.

The circuit has now received confirmation that the International Federation has accepted proposals to upgrade the circuit to Grade 1 status.
This is highest international standard for a race track and a key requirement to host an F1 race.
The current circuit layout was upgraded in 2016 and holds an FIA Grade 2 certification.

The Kyalami Grand Prix circuit has been granted a three-year period in which to complete the required upgrades.
