Blood drive attracts 250 lifesaving donors

Community Emergency Response Team South Africa, also known as CERT SA, has welcomed 250 blood donors to its Christmas in July Naughty and Nice Blood Drive in Centurion.
The event brought together more than 40 organisations, including emergency services, police and community groups, to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation through live demonstrations and family entertainment.
Visitors also donated non perishable food to support the Lewende Woord Food Bank.

South African filmmaker's VHS movie sells out twice

South African born filmmaker Robert dos Santos is celebrating strong demand for his latest film, This is How The World Ends, after its limited VHS release sold out twice.
The film is the first feature in two decades to debut on VHS and has attracted more than 1 000 pre orders from collectors and movie fans around the world. Dos Santos says the release celebrates human creativity in an era of Artificial Intelligence and streaming rather than rejecting new technology.
He says the film was designed to embrace the unique limitations of VHS while maintaining high production quality.

Mother and daughter turn hobby into charity drive

A West Rand mother and daughter have transformed a simple hobby of collecting and swapping Checkers Little Shop minis into a community initiative supporting people and animal shelters in need.
After receiving overwhelming support from local WhatsApp groups, Michelle Thomson and her mother, Desiree Taljaard, began collecting dog food, clothing, toys, baby items, stationery and non perishable food for charities across the region.
They are now preparing food hampers for pensioners and continue encouraging community members to donate pre loved and essential items.

South African mixed martial artist Nkosi Ndebele has made a winning start to his international Professional Fighters League career after defeating American Brandon Davis by unanimous decision in Washington DC.
The Diepsloot born fighter extended his unbeaten PFL record just months after becoming the inaugural PFL Africa Bantamweight Champion.
Ndebele overcame a late change of opponent and says he is proud to represent African talent on the global stage and prove that African fighters can compete with the best.
