Stellantis Brings Digital Skills to Schools

Stellantis South Africa has partnered with Social Coding South Africa to bring coding, robotics, AI and digital literacy training to underserved schools through a mobile computer lab.
The programme will begin in early 2027, training Grade 8 and 9 learners, equipping teachers to use technology in classrooms, and certifying young facilitators to continue digital education in their communities.
Selected participants will also gain paid work experience and opportunities to compete in robotics competitions.

Winelands Learners Win Global Research Award

Two Cape Winelands learners have won an international research award for projects on artificial intelligence and tuberculosis.
Maria Manwadu and Reananetse Mbizo received the Research Excellence Award at a youth research summit in Ireland.
Manwadu studied how AI can detect TB from chest X-rays, while Mbizo researched how homemade masks filter airborne micro-organisms.
The learners are part of a UCT-linked programme that helps young people conduct research with scientists.

The Zululand Conservation Trust is supporting more than 167 children and their families in Mandlakazi, KwaZulu-Natal, through food and education projects.
The organisation has helped create vegetable gardens at crèches, upgraded early learning centres and introduced environmental education programmes.
The projects provide children with meals, learning support and families with opportunities to grow food and improve livelihoods.

Senegal Prepares for Youth Olympic Games

Senegal is stepping up preparations for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, with less than 100 days to go before the event.
President Bassirou Diomaye Faye visited the upgraded Iba Mar Diop Stadium, one of the key venues for the Games.
Built with support from a Chinese company, the project has expanded the main stand to 8,000 seats and added a 3,000-seat handball arena, indoor courts and new football and rugby training grounds.
A government representative says the upgraded sports complex is part of the country's final preparations to host the Youth Olympic Games:
