UP Opens Gauteng’s First Gold Status Cat-Friendly Clinic
Story 1
The University of Pretoria has opened Gauteng’s first gold status Cat-Friendly Clinic at Onderstepoort Veterinary Academic Hospital.
This accreditation recognises clinics that meet the highest international standards in feline care and stress-free environments.
The clinic provides cat-only spaces and gentle handling to make visits less stressful.
It also trains veterinary students and supports important research on cat health.
In partnership with Royal Canin, UP has created a dedicated team of “catvocates” to maintain these high standards.
This milestone strengthens UP’s role as a leader in veterinary care and animal welfare in South Africa.

In Austin, Texas, Korea House Restaurant has been offering free meals to anyone who walks in on the first Wednesday of every month.

The owners have even gone into their own savings to keep the programme going.
While tips and donations are welcome, they are not expected. Some of the funds raised go towards helping homeless people who often come in for a meal.
