City Power has announced the official launch of new electric vehicle charging stations across Johannesburg, marking a key milestone in the city’s energy transition.

The initiative forms part of City Power’s Ten-Point Energy Plan, a strategic blueprint designed to modernise the city’s energy systems, and align with global climate goals.

The rollout includes converting City Power’s fleet to electric, building city-wide charging infrastructure and introducing battery-swapping systems.

Spokesperson Isaac Mangena says the initiative will reduce emissions and fuel costs positioning Johannesburg as a leader in green mobility and economic innovation.

The Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube has welcomed national and provincial efforts of facilitating a new phase in the country’s drive to ensure that every South African child receives quality education from the earliest years.

The Minister recently concluded a large-scale Early Childhood Development registration drive in Johannesburg, aimed at improving access to quality early learning.

The minister emphasised that investment in ECD infrastructure is one of the pillars of her five strategic priorities, particularly in historically marginalised communities.

Gwarube undertook a comprehensive roadmap leadership summit as part of her national campaign to strengthen foundational learning and to advance her department’s strategic priorities.

The online learning platform Milani Education, has been named as one of seven startups from Stellenbosch University, that will compete in the regional round of the Entrepreneurship Development in Higher Education Intervarsity competition in August.

The nonprofit organisation was launched in 2020 by Alexandra Lutz, who is currently in her first year of a data science degree at the university.

Milani Education is a free online learning platform that provides educational content from the current curriculum for learners in grades eight to 12 across South Africa.
