IMBE has supported black women-owned ECD businesses across South Africa by providing training and tools to build sustainable and financially viable centres.
Rirhandzu Majozi, principal of ABC Day Care Centre in Protea Glen in Soweto, joined the programme in 2021 and applied its lessons to improve staff management, marketing, and parent engagement.
The Nutrition Wallet initiative helped her plan nutritious meals, enhancing children’s well-being and daily care.
Through workshops and mentoring, Majozi says she has strengthened the centre’s operations, improved teaching practices, and expanded community engagement.

Teen swimmer tackles Midmar Mile for blind kids

Grade 9 learner Slade Davey will take on the Midmar Mile to raise R5,000 for The Bright Eyes Trust, which supports blind and visually impaired children in Durban.
The Bright Eyes Trust runs a preschool, homeschooling programme, Grade R to Grade 2 classes, and after-school activities, including adapted maths, karate, cooking, and family support.
It also provides free eye screenings, a feeding scheme and programmes for epilepsy support and tactile art for visually impaired children.
The Midmar Mile takes place in Durban next month.
