Cricket South Africa’s Pink Day Initiative raises R600 000 for breast cancer care
Story 1
The Breast Care Unit at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital has received a R600 000 donation to strengthen breast cancer detection, treatment and research efforts in Gauteng.

The contribution followed the third Proteas Men’s T20I match against the West Indies at the DP World Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg where thousands of fans filled the stands in pink to champion breast cancer awareness and early detection, as part of Cricket South Africa's pink day initiative.

The donation reinforces the clinic’s growing impact in making breast care services more accessible and further enhances the clinic’s ability to extend specialised breast care to more women, regardless of their location or income.

The initiative reflects a broader commitment to empowering women, safeguarding their health and supporting their full participation in society.

Pink Day which began in 2011 during a Test match between the Proteas and Australia remains one of the most meaningful days in South African cricket.
