The Corinthians community organisation, based in the South of Johannesburg, has unveiled its new STEAM Centre.

The initiative is designed to empower young people through science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics education while creating income streams to sustain the organization's broader community programmes.

The STEAM-focused curriculum covers hands-on science experiments, coding and computer literacy training, engineering projects, story illustration and mathematics support.

The community project aims to generate revenue for the Corinthians Africa Non-profit organization, enabling the facility to expand its initiatives that benefit local youth and the broader community.

National Gardens Week to celebrate South Africa’s biodiversity

The South African National Biodiversity Institute has announced the return of National Gardens Week, taking place from the 9th to the 15th of March.

The Institute says the week encourages South Africans to celebrate and protect the country’s rich biodiversity which includes over 95 000 known species.

A range of educational conservation and wellness activities will be available across participating gardens.

more than 126,000 South Africans walked through SANBI’s 11 national botanical and two zoological gardens during the inaugural week.

One Battle After Another dominates 79th British Academy Film Awards

The 79th British Academy Film Awards, honoured the best national and foreign films of 2025, at the Royal Festival Hall at London's Southbank Centre.

The action-thriller One Battle After Another led the awards with six wins, including the top prize for Best Film, Best Supporting Actor for Sean Penn, as well as Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson

The leading actor award went to Robert Aramayo for
the drama film I Swear, while Jessie Buckley won leading actress for Hamnet, which was also named the outstanding British film.

The annual awards show which is hosted by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts honours the best British and international film contributions and serves as a critical bridge between British and international cinema, highlighting artistic and technical excellence, while promoting films to a wider audience.
