The City of Tshwane has been confirmed as the host city of a P2-status event on the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour. This is the first professional padel tournament of its kind to be staged in Sub-Saharan Africa. The P2 signals the sport’s transition from a fast-growing recreational activity to a fully fledge professional event.The tournament is scheduled for the 26 July to the 2nd August 2026, with a prize pool of approximately 5.3 million rand.

The South Coast swung into a major clean-up operation following last week’s heavy downpour, which caused localised flooding in several areas.Residents, business owners, staff and volunteers from Shelly Beach to Margate cleaned beaches and, reopened shopping centres. Astronomers have spotted a supermassive black hole whipping up cosmic winds at record speeds. The black hole, located 135 million light-years from Earth in the center of the NGC 3783 spiral galaxy, caught researchers' attention after emitting a huge X-ray flare. As the burst died down, it left winds of more than 37,000 miles per second— one-fifth the speed of light. Astronomer Liyi Gu at Space Research Organisation Netherlands who led the research said they have not watched a black hole create winds this speedily before.
