R150m Fund To Boost Youth Jobs

Business Partners Limited has launched a R150-million fund to help South African SMEs hire young people aged between 18 and 35.
The SME Youth Jobs Fund will provide qualifying businesses with between R250,000 and R2-million to cover labour costs for new employees for up to two years.
Business Partners expects the fund to support about 220 SMEs and create nearly 1,000 jobs, as youth unemployment remains high in South Africa.
Applications are now open to SMEs that have traded for at least two years and meet the fund’s eligibility requirements.

Wanderers Tennis is bringing members together every Thursday evening for social matches that have grown from a small WhatsApp group into a regular club event.
About 10 courts are used each Thursday from 17:30, with players competing for two to three hours before meeting for dinner.
The weekly sessions have run for about five years and attract both men and women, including players returning to tennis after years away from the sport.
Beginners can take lessons on Tuesdays, while the Thursday sessions are aimed at players with some tennis experience.

246 Take Part In Trails For Trunks

Two hundred and 46 runners and walkers took part in HERD’s fourth annual Trails for Trunks event in Pretoria earlier this month.
Participants completed trail distances ranging from two to 15 kilometres to raise support for HERD’s elephant rescue, rehabilitation and conservation work.
Supporters also joined the event virtually from other parts of the world, walking and running for the cause.
