A Nation of Light Supports Blind SA
Story 1
A Nation of Light has launched an R80-for-80-years fundraising campaign to support Blind SA as it marks 80 years of serving blind and partially sighted people in South Africa.
The campaign asks individuals to donate R80 a month for eight months, or make a once-off donation of R800, while businesses can contribute R8,000 or R80,000.
The funds will support Braille production, accessible learning materials, advocacy and national programmes for people with vision loss.
The campaign is led by A Nation of Light founder Lindiwe Msiza, who says the initiative aims to recognise Blind SA’s work and help expand services for people living with vision loss.

A climate project in Johannesburg has created 1,500 jobs, restored 489 hectares of land and planted 47,600 trees as it comes to an end.
The SUNCASA project, launched in 2024, worked in Johannesburg, Dire Dawa in Ethiopia and Kigali in Rwanda to reduce flood and climate risks and improve urban environments.
In Johannesburg, the project also removed 664 tonnes of waste from the Jukskei River, trained 200 workers and installed a flood-monitoring network to support early warnings.
