UJ board game makes learning the rules of war fun
Story 1
The University of Johannesburg and the International Committee of the Red Cross have launched a board game to help young people understand the rules of war.
Using real world conflict scenarios, players identify international humanitarian law terms against the clock, including war crimes, safe zones and amnesty.
The four player game uses competition and quick decision making to turn lessons about armed conflict into an interactive experience.
Jane Patricia Bako, Prevention Manager at the International Committee of the Red Cross in Uganda, says the game makes complex legal principles more accessible while teaching the importance of protecting civilians during conflict
