Johannesburg teams MBB Blue Soldiers and The Takeover have claimed the men’s and women’s national titles at the Red Bull Half Court finals in Soweto.
The teams came through a national competition featuring players from Gauteng, KwaZulu Natal and the Western Cape.
The Blue Soldiers defended their men’s title, while The Takeover secured the women’s crown.
Both teams will now represent South Africa at the World Final in Manila, Philippines, in December.

Former Absa CEO Arrie Rautenbach has completed an extraordinary 4 062 kilometre bicycle ride across eight countries, reaching Norway’s North Cape while living with Parkinson’s disease.
The self supported challenge included more than 30 000 metres of climbing and over 661 000 pedal strokes, despite illness, exhaustion and Parkinson’s symptoms.
The ride also launched the Arrie Rautenbach Parkinson’s Foundation, which aims to raise awareness, encourage earlier diagnosis and support people living with the condition.

University of Pretoria medical student Asekho Mbokodo has turned her 21st birthday into a fundraising challenge to support fellow students.
She ran 21 half marathon races, each 21.1 kilometres, to raise money for stethoscopes for third year medical students who cannot afford the essential clinical equipment.
Seven months later, Asekho completed all 21 races and raised more than R26 000, helping future doctors begin their clinical training with the tools they need.
