Royal Schools Learners Excel In Academic Challenge

Royal Schools Sky City learners finished second overall at the Annual Core Education Academic Challenge, winning four categories — poetry, public speaking, chess and debating.
Learners from Grades 1 to 12 took part, with the school’s different phases also securing second- and third-place finishes.
The competition is designed to build academic, communication, creative and strategic skills through healthy competition.

Wanderers Tennis Builds Weekly Community

Wanderers Tennis is bringing members together every Thursday evening for social matches that have grown from a small WhatsApp group into a regular club event.
About 10 courts are used each Thursday from 17:30, with players competing for two to three hours before meeting for dinner.
The weekly sessions have run for about five years and attract both men and women, including players returning to tennis after years away from the sport.
Beginners can take lessons on Tuesdays, while the Thursday sessions are aimed at players with some tennis experience.

SOS Africa Opens Skills Academy

SOS Africa has opened a new skills academy near Sir Lowry’s Pass Village, in the Western Cape, with its first 20 trainees starting courses aimed at improving their chances of employment.
The academy offers practical training in fields including information technology, care work, hospitality, horticulture and entrepreneurship.
Its first two courses, launched this week with Edunova, focus on IT support and a QCTO-accredited care-worker qualification.
The academy plans to expand its courses and work with employers and training providers to give more unemployed young people skills and experience for the job market.

Zoox Gets Approval For Robotaxi Deployment

Amazon-owned Zoox has received approval from U.S. regulators to deploy its steering-wheel-free robotaxi commercially.
The electric vehicle has inward-facing seats and can travel at speeds of up to about 121 kilometres per hour.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Jonathan Morrison, says the vehicle meets federal safety requirements, with Zoox allowed to deploy up to 2,500 vehicles a year:
