Vega graduate beats cancer and celebrates degree
Story 1
Hannah Carpel has marked a double triumph as she completed chemotherapy and graduated with a degree in Interior Design from IIE Vega.
She began her studies in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, endured the loss of her father last year, and was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer in 2024.
After ringing the bell to signal the end of her treatment in June, she walked the stage at Vega’s Bordeaux campus this month. Carpel says the journey tested her resilience but also proved her strength.
Now in remission, she is ready to begin the next chapter of her life and career.

Ex-Rugby Star Scales Unclimbed Peak After Spinal Injury
Story 3
Former rugby player Ed Jackson has made history by becoming the first person to summit an unnamed 4 720-metre peak in the Tien Shan Mountains of Kyrgyzstan.
Jackson was left quadriplegic after breaking his neck in a diving accident eight years ago, but years of rehabilitation led him to this achievement on 23 August.
The climb is believed to be the first high-altitude first ascent by someone with a disability. Jackson dedicated the milestone to his charity, Millimetres to Mountains, and to children with disabilities in Kyrgyzstan who will have the honour of naming the peak.
