Blairgowrie Swimming Pool Set for Official Opening

The Blairgowrie Swimming Pool is set for its official opening on 1 September, with the public welcome from 6 September.
The Blairgowrie Community Association, together with the City of Johannesburg, Ward 102 councillor Lucinda Harman, Beagle Watch, donors, and other stakeholders, has revitalised the previously neglected pool and park.
The facility is now fully operational, with repairs and upgrades completed throughout, including refurbished toilets, updated signage, and a renewed lifeguard house.
Residents can look forward to enjoying a community hub with fun activities, games, and food.

UKZN to Host Music Production and Licensing Workshop

The University of KwaZulu-Natal Centre for Jazz, in partnership with Downtown Music Publishing Africa, will host a free workshop in Durban on 11 September.
Aimed at music professionals and students, the session will cover publishing fundamentals, rights management and licensing opportunities, with a focus on television and film.
Participants will also gain insights into agreements, production music and rate card structures, while connecting with industry experts.
Organisers say the event is designed to empower local creatives with practical knowledge and open new pathways to earning from their work.

Wildlife Photography Sale Raises Funds for Conservation

Leading wildlife photographers are selling their work in Edition Hope, the 2025 return of Prints for Wildlife, to support global conservation efforts.
Over 200 images, from established and emerging photographers, are on offer, including Gurcharan Roopra’s striking shot of a giraffe on Shompole Community Land in Kenya.
All proceeds from the sale go to Conservation International, which protects biodiversity, restores ecosystems, and supports communities living close to nature.
Since its launch in 2020, Prints for Wildlife has raised more than R38 million for conservation initiatives worldwide.
Limited-edition prints are priced at approximately R2,390 each and are available exclusively online for a short period.
