Jazz Legends Mkhize and Butler to Receive Lifetime Achievement Awards

World-renowned Jazz icons, Themba Mkhize and Dr Jonathan Butler, will be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's Mzantsi Jazz Awards.
Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter/guitarist Butler received an Honorary Doctorate from Stellenbosch University in March and pianist and composer--Mkhize has been part of renowned jazz collectives such as Sakhile and Bayete.
Previous recipients of the award include Abigail Kubeka and late drummer Louis Moholo, and Letta Mbulu.
The 9th edition of the Mzantsi Jazz Awards will be held on 30 August at the University of Johannesburg

Distance For Difference Celebrates 20 Years of Giving Back

Non-profit organisation Distance For Difference is hosting two-exciting fundraising events to mark 20 years of making a difference in the lives of children.
The first event is the GRATITUDE Run, taking place in Stellenbosch on Heritage Day, 24 September.
Later, in October, the organisation will host THE500 24-Hour Cycling and Spinning Challenge in Somerset West, where cyclists will aim to cover 500 kilometres in 24 hours.
Over the past two decades, the organisation has raised over R13 million for more than 60 charities across South Africa.

The Springboks received a warm welcome in Auckland, New Zealand, ahead of their upcoming Rugby Championship match against the All Blacks.
The South African squad – captained by Siya Kolisi – will play two away games against their biggest rugby rivals on Saturday 6 September and a week later on 13 September.
They will then return to South Africa to face Argentina in Durban on 27 September, before wrapping up their campaign against the Pumas in London on 4 October.
Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus says with all 4-teams in the Rugby Championship having won one match so far and the standings very tight the next two games will be crucial for their campaign.
