The Johannesburg Roads Agency has reopened Drysdale Road in Sundowner, Randburg, following over a month of repairs.
The closure, which began on 4 September, was necessary after severe floods caused a section of the road to collapse.
JRA’s work included restoring the embankment, reconstructing the roadway, installing guardrails, and reinforcing the road with gabion structures.
Surface patching and improved drainage were also completed to reduce the risk of future erosion.

Zolani Zondani from Gqeberha received a hero’s welcome after walking over 700 kilometres to Cape Town.
He embarked on the journey to raise awareness about men’s mental health following the loss of his younger brother to drug addiction.
Zondani aims to create safe spaces for men to express vulnerability and challenge toxic masculinity.
His initiative, Broski: The Living Experience, also addresses gun violence and substance abuse among young men.
The walk drew widespread attention and support, highlighting the importance of mental health advocacy and community action.

Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube and her Brazilian counterpart Camilo Santana signed a Memorandum of Understanding to boost cooperation between the two countries.
The partnership will focus on teacher development, 21st-century skills, vocational training, early childhood education, and student-level information systems.
It also aims to promote health and active citizenship in schools.
The MoU builds on earlier agreements from the BRICS Ministers of Education Meeting in Brazil to improve learning outcomes and reduce barriers to education.
