Green Sea Turtles Move Off Endangered List After Global Recovery Efforts
Story 3
Green Sea Turtles have been reclassified from “Endangered” to “Least Concern” on the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List.
The change follows decades of global conservation work that has helped restore their numbers in many regions.
Experts say ongoing protection is still crucial, as sea turtles remain vulnerable to fishing bycatch, poaching, plastic pollution, and habitat loss.
Climate change also continues to threaten nesting beaches and food sources.
Conservation groups warn that the species’ recovery depends on continued international efforts to protect turtles and their habitats.
