Festival of lights sets Joburg ablaze this December

Joburg City Theatres' annual Festival of Lights kicks off tonight, November 27, 2025, at the Joburg Zoo, promising an enchanting holiday experience for families.
This year's festival boasts exciting new additions, including a nativity-scene play at the Farmhouse, which aims to bring the true spirit of Christmas closer to visitors.
The festival has lots of different entertainment, including local dance groups like Jozi Youth Dance and musicians like The Soil and BlaqDiamond.
Visitors can enjoy a magical evening under the Zoo sky with friends and family, with tickets available online for R175, with a 50% discount on Black Friday.
Children under 3 enter free, and the festival runs until January 4, 2026.

First held in 2006, the Mitchells Plain switch-on event returns after a ten-year hiatus.
