Cape Town’s Woodstock Brewery has been crowned Best Beer in Africa at the 2026 African Beer Cup, the continent’s largest beer competition featuring entries from 16 countries.
The winning beer, Funky Monk’s, took top honours after being judged against more than 240 other entries by an international panel of experts in blind tastings across multiple categories.
South African breweries dominated the competition overall, collecting more than 60 medals and securing top awards across a wide range of beer styles, highlighting the strength of the country’s craft brewing industry.

A busy intersection in Fourways has been cleaned up through a partnership between security company SheerGuard SA and the Live Life Always Foundation aimed at restoring pride in public spaces.
The clean-up took place at the corner of Kingfisher Drive and Winnie Mandela Drive, an area with high pedestrian and taxi activity, as part of ongoing efforts to improve cleanliness in the suburb.
