Rand Water's Major Maintenance

Rand Water will embark on a major winter maintenance programme in Gauteng, resulting in low water supply with the longest disruption lasting 107 hours. The water utility says it will undertake critical maintenance on its key infrastructure from Thursday.The maintenance will begin at different times at locations across various municipalities and is scheduled to begin on the 29th of May until the 2nd of June. Some affected areas will experience between 10 to 12 hours of water disruptions. Rand Water says the maintenance will help increase capacity, enhance plant reliability and operational efficiency.

SA Swims To Save Sharks

A British-South African endurance athlete became the first person to swim around the island of Martha’s Vineyard to raise awareness about the plight of sharks. This comes as the film “Jaws” nears its 50th birthday. Lewis Pugh aged 55 completed a 60-mile trek in 47 degrees water over multiple days. The athlete said he wanted to change public perceptions about sharks and encourage protection for the at-risk animals.
