The Gauteng Education Department says it's committed to accountability and collaboration to ensure safe, well-managed schools.
Following recent concerns at Unity Secondary School in Benoni, the department says allegations of bribery and forced donations were investigated, with no evidence found.
Academic support has been strengthened after a drop in matric results, and teacher training is underway.
In Riverlea, mobile classrooms have been delivered after a fire damaged parts of the school, with repairs planned for next year.
The department says despite budget cuts, core services and educator salaries remain supported.

Kenya’s iconic Blankets & Wine festival returns on 29 June with a stellar line-up of African talent to mark its 16th anniversary.
South African house trio Mi Casa leads the charge, alongside Kenyan stars Matata, Ssaru and Serro, plus Tanzanian legend Saida Karoli and Uganda’s Joshua Baraka.
The event, held at Laureate Gardens in Nairobi, will feature two stages, a Family Zone, and the popular Onja Onja Market.
Festival founder Muthoni Drummer Queen says this edition aims to “bring Africa to Kenya and take Kenya to the world,” with a UK expansion set for September 2025.

Menlopark Crowned St Anne’s Cup Champions

Hoërskool Menlopark clinched the St Anne’s Cup title with a 2-0 win over Our Lady of Fatima in the final on Sunday.
The Pretoria side impressed with their unity and attacking flair, capping off a tough journey that included a quarterfinal win over Durban Girls’ College and a dramatic shootout victory against Eunice.
Carlia Potgieter scored both goals in the final, while captain Zoe Badenhorst and goalkeeper Annika Kloppers walked away with individual honours.
The tournament, hosted at St Anne’s Diocesan College, saw twelve top school teams compete in what organisers hailed as a major step forward for girls’ hockey in South Africa.
