President Cyril Ramaphosa has praised the Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Pretoria, Gauteng, for its Nuclear Medicine Research Infrastructure Centre, calling it one of the best in the world.
The R500-million facility, opened last year, offers advanced nuclear medicine services and cutting-edge research capabilities, making it the only centre of its kind in Africa.
The president highlighted the diverse and youthful team running the centre, as well as the important role it will play in improving healthcare across the country.
He commended Gauteng leaders for investing in innovative technology that sets a new standard for public health facilities.
The centre is a key part of South Africa’s vision for a future-ready healthcare system under the National Health Insurance scheme.

Modiselle says the book tackles myths and misconceptions, while encouraging love, acceptance, and inclusive education.
Fun activities are included to keep young readers engaged, and Modiselle hopes the book will inspire a love of reading and a deeper sense of empathy among children.

Marlboro Gardens Learner Shines in International Book on Owls

Grade 9 learner Adivhaho Mokakatleng from Marlboro Gardens Secondary School is featured in an international book about owls, inspiring children worldwide.
His passion for wildlife grew through the Owlproject.org initiative, which introduces young people to owl conservation.
Award-winning author Frances Backhouse included Adivhaho’s story in her book Owls, part of the Orca Wild series for middle-grade readers.
Adivhaho has been involved in caring for owls at school since Grade 6, feeding baby owls until they can hunt independently.
His teacher, Motlatsi Zulu, praised his dedication and highlighted the importance of passing on environmental care to future generations.
