Entries Open for iStore Education Awards

South African teachers and learners can now enter the 2026 iStore Education Excellence in Education Awards, which recognise innovative classroom projects using Apple technology.
The competition is open to primary and high school learners and their educators, who must submit a project showing how they used a Mac or iPad to bring learning to life.
Winners in the primary school category will receive the latest iPad, while high school winners will receive a MacBook Neo.
Entries close on 2 October 2026.

Dream Room Opens for Young Patients

The Reach For A Dream Foundation has opened a Dream Room for children receiving treatment in the paediatric wards at Frere Provincial Hospital in East London.
The child-friendly space features educational activities, virtual reality, PlayStations and games to help reduce anxiety and make hospital stays more enjoyable.
Hospital staff, donors and partners marked the official handover on 26 July.
The Dream Room will give young patients a place to play, learn and relax while receiving medical care.

Youth Conference Draws Thousands in KwaZulu-Natal

More than 6,000 young people gathered in KwaZulu-Natal from earlier this month, for the first 2026 KwaSizabantu youth conference.
Participants took part in teaching sessions, mentorship, worship, volunteer activities and discussions on making responsible decisions and overcoming challenges such as peer pressure and drug abuse.
Hundreds of volunteers helped provide meals, accommodation and support throughout the week-long event.
The conference has been held since 1974 and continues to equip young people with practical skills and support for their families and communities.
