Eskom praises South Africa’s young scientists for their creativity and global competitiveness.
Yu-Yao Chen from Curro Durbanville High in Cape Town and Karabo Mpuru, a former learner at Northern Academy in Polokwane, won at the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists.
Their wins have earned them spots at the Taiwan International Science Fair, where they will showcase their projects at the international stage.
Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokwena says their achievements highlight how curiosity and determination are helping South African students make a mark in science worldwide:

Alumni returns to launch chess club at Alexandra aftercare

Thando Myakayaka, a former student of the Union of Jewish Women’s Alexandra Aftercare, has returned to the organisation to launch and coach the Alexandra Aftercare Chess Club.
The club gives children a space to learn, practice, and enjoy chess while developing critical thinking, strategy and teamwork.
He teaches young learners chess from basic moves to advanced strategies.
Children practice, compete, and mentor each other in the club, building teamwork and critical thinking.
The club plans tournaments to challenge participants and further develop their skills.

Superhero dream comes true for young boy in Motherwell

To Motherwell Eastern Cape where, Reach For A Dream has granted a young boy’s superhero wish come true.
Olwethu, who is battling a life-threatening illness had a dream of having his own Captain America toys.
Last week the organisation collected Olwethu and his family from their home before taking him to a toy store, where Captain America greeted him with a smile, a hug, and his iconic shield.
The young boy explored the store, played, received a collection of superhero toys, and wore his own Captain America costume throughout the day.
Reach For A Dream says fulfilling these dreams provides children with hope, joy, and a sense of freedom outside the hospital.

8 Australia stadiums set for Rugby World Cup

8-stadiums across Australia have been confirmed as host venues for next year’s Men's Rugby World Cup.
Sydney’s Olympic Stadium will be the centrepiece of the tournament.
The 80-thousand-seat venue will host the final on 13 November, both semi-finals, the third-place playoff, two quarter-finals and two pool matches.
Sydney’s Soccer Stadium has also been selected.
