Ballito gift-wrapping drive raises over R100,000 for wildlife rescue

Ballito Junction’s annual gift-wrapping initiative has raised R108,000 for the Dolphin Coast’s Wildlife Rescue.
The volunteer-run project ran throughout December, with more than 50 volunteers wrapping gifts for shoppers while raising funds for local wildlife rehabilitation.
Hundreds of customers contributed by participating in the initiative, helping support the rescue group’s work in protecting and rehabilitating animals in Ballito and surrounding areas.
The donation will assist Wildlife Rescue in continuing its efforts to care for injured and vulnerable wildlife in the region.

Kliptown ECD centre improves child safety and learning

The Angel Paradise Daycare Centre in Kliptown is helping young children stay safe while preparing for school.
The centre began after founder and principal Lucrucia Hollander noticed children were left unsupervised and at risk in Eldorado Park.
It has grown into a registered early childhood development programme, strengthened through professional training and the free IMBE Accelerator Programme, which improved classroom safety, financial management, and learning facilities, including a new jungle gym.
The centre also runs aftercare programmes and supports children from families who cannot afford fees.

Montreux Jazz Festival set for Franschhoek debut in 2026

The Montreux Jazz Festival, usually held in Switzerland, will take place in Franschhoek in the Cape Winelands from 27 to 29 March 2026.
This will be the first time the festival is hosted in Africa.
Organisers say the event will bring together international and local jazz artists for a three day programme of performances and that it caters for everyone .
